The United Kingdom’s Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) took a firm stance against Foxy Games, prohibiting one of their advertisements for implying that engaging in slots and bingo could lead to financial stability.
The advertisement, displayed on Google Search, sparked controversy in July 2020. It appeared when individuals searched for “generate income online” and prominently stated “Generate Income Online – Foxy Games – Play Online”.
Numerous complaints were lodged, contending that Foxy Games was portraying gambling as a viable method to earn a living and attain financial security. The ASA concurred, highlighting that the phrase “generate income online” suggested a dependable source of earnings.
Foxy Games asserted that the advertisement was an error and promptly removed it. Nevertheless, the ASA still imposed a ban, ensuring the advertisement would never reappear.
Intriguingly, the ASA did not object to a comparable advertisement from Betfair. This televised advertisement showcased a man placing wagers even while rushing to board a flight, accompanied by the tagline “When an opportunity arises, there’s a possibility”.
