The Ontario gaming regulator, AGCO, has rescinded its prohibition on wagering on UFC matches. This follows the UFC’s collaboration with U.S. Integrity, a firm specializing in the surveillance of betting trends for irregularities.
Previously, the AGCO had voiced apprehensions regarding potential bout manipulation, prompting the betting suspension.
With U.S. Integrity now employed, utilizing its systems to identify any atypical wagering conduct, the AGCO is content and has authorized the resumption of betting on UFC events within Ontario. This decision brings relief to both enthusiasts and the UFC organization, as Canada constitutes a substantial market for the sport.
RichΓ© T. McKnight, the UFC’s Executive Vice President and chief legal officer, underscored the organization’s dedication to ethical conduct, affirming that they have reinforced their Athlete Conduct Code to explicitly forbid any UFC competitor from placing wagers on fights, either personally or through an intermediary.
The team at US Integrity is thrilled to collaborate with UFC, ensuring fairness in all aspects. They are eager to leverage their knowledge to guarantee UFC’s ethical guidelines and practices are of the highest standard.”
