Flutter Entertainment has brought on board a former Sun journalist, Hawks, to take on the role of Head of Reputation and Public Affairs for the United Kingdom and Ireland.
Hawks joins Flutter from BCW, a worldwide communications firm, where he spent nearly three years as a senior director and strategic media leader.
Prior to that, Hawks served as Deputy Political Editor at The Sun from December 2013 to October 2019. He also held the position of Business Editor at the publication from October 2008 to June 2013.
Between his two periods at The Sun, Hawks worked as Consumer Affairs Editor at The Daily Telegraph. Earlier in his professional journey, he was a retail reporter for The Times and Deputy Business Editor of The Daily Mirror.
“Flutter operates some of the globe’s most well-known sports betting and gaming brands, including Betfair, Paddy Power, and SkyBet, and is dedicated to being a leader in player protection and responsible gambling; I am eager to begin,” stated Hawks.
This appointment follows the announcement last week by Conor Grant that he would be stepping down as Chief Executive Officer of Flutter’s UK and Ireland operations to take a break.
Grant is set to depart the organization by year’s end, with Ian Brown, previously the CEO of the Booking.com division, assuming his role.
