The Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) has asked for the prohibition of two more foreign gambling sites.
The ACMA has issued two additional blocking orders targeting foreign websites, requiring internet service providers (ISPs) to block access to Pokizino and ABA Lucky 33. These sites have been determined to be operating unlawfully in Australia as they are providing online gambling services without a permit, in violation of the Interactive Gambling Act 2001.
Since first requesting blocking in November 2019, the ACMA has blocked 652 illegal gambling and affiliate websites. Additionally, since the implementation of new illegal foreign gambling regulations in 2017, over 180 illegal services have left the Australian market.
These most recent blocking requests come after the ACMA also requested ISPs to block access to nine other websites last month. These websites, including Winning Days, 21Bit Casino, Oshi Casino, Lucky Elf Casino, NeoSpin, Lets Lucky, Boho Casino, Ripper Casino and BC.Game, were also found to be in violation of the Interactive Gambling Act 2001.
The ACMA has emphasized the significance of taking action against illegal gambling affiliates.
Emphasis on Affiliates
This statement arrives following a pledge made earlier this month, when the ACMA declared they would concentrate on “partner services that advertise and guide visitors to unlawful online betting platforms” in the current year.
The ACMA clarified their actions during the July to September timeframe, stating that affiliate services for illicit and offshore gambling websites, which frequently pose as unbiased gambling website evaluators and redirect traffic to these sites, will be a top priority for adherence.
